📍 Markideio Theatre, Paphos | 🕖 19:00 | 🎟 Free Admission

On the occasion of International Museum Day, the Cyprus Wine Museum joins the celebration in a deeply symbolic and touching way: by supporting and showcasing the next generation of Cyprus’s musical talents, in collaboration with the Young Orpheus Festival, marking its 5th anniversary this year.

On Sunday, May 18, at 19:00 at the Markideio Theatre in Paphos, the Commandaria Orchestra will appear on stage alongside the award-winning young musicians of the Young Orpheus Competition in a Gala Concert & Award Ceremony — a powerful expression of the museum’s mission: to preserve heritage while investing in its future.

🎼 A complete ecosystem of support
Over the past two months, the selected soloists had the opportunity to prepare the works of their choice under the guidance of violinist Andreas Constantinou and Francis Guy, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Commandaria Orchestra. Their final rehearsal with the orchestra takes place today, May 17, at the museum’s cultural hall in Erimi.

On the morning of the same day, the Children’s Choir of the Cyprus Wine Museum (International Family Choir) will continue its regular Sunday rehearsals and activities at the museum’s main hall. This session is open to all families (Cyprus Wine Museum, Erimi, 10:30–12:00) as part of the museum’s public engagement for International Museum Day.

🎻 A stage for young talent
The soloists performing with the Commandaria Orchestra are:
Agata Zubkova, Diana Ischenko, Angelina Golionko, Richard Petersons, Polina Marchenko, Maria Mamaeva, Leon Zaritsky, Athinais Klouvatou, and Ifigenia Stavrou.

🙏 Acknowledgements
The children’s preparation would not have been possible without the generous contribution of their teachers and collaborative pianists, whom we warmly thank.

Special thanks go to the organizing team of the Young Orpheus Festival & Competition:
Natalia Lezedova, Nina Ioannidou, Mariola Charitidou, Irina Ivanova, Andreas Iosif, Ekaterina Zubkova, and Alexandra Gertsen.

🎻 Commandaria Orchestra: A pillar of quality and artistic support
Founded by the Cyprus Wine Museum in 2009, the Commandaria Orchestra has become a national cultural reference point for the promotion of concert music in Cyprus. A special mention goes to Sorin Alexandru Horlea, the orchestra’s concertmaster, for his crucial role in preparing the ensemble for this performance.

The dedication, precision, and artistry of every musician in the orchestra are instrumental in nurturing this new generation of performers — and reflect the very essence of the cultural mission the Cyprus Wine Museum seeks to uphold.
